When I was little we didn't travel much, and New Orleans didn't have a theme park, so big rollercoasters were something that existed only on tv. But that all changed in the summer of 2000. I went to summer camp at the high school that I would attend that year, and at the end of the program they took us all to the recently finished Jazz Land theme park. I'll never forget my first time there, the other 5 times I went that summer are kind of a blur. The park later became a Six Flags in 2002, then due to damages by hurricane Katrina in 2005 the park was shut down and has not been open to the public for almost 12 years.
